Power is God Himself. He is therefore both the origin and source of authority. Outside of Him there is no true authority. He is pure power and His action is true authority.
It is inevitable therefore that Satan would try to hijack this authority. In some ways he already has, for most Christians believe Satan is more able to deceive us than Christ is to speak, heal and keep us. Satan’s way of doing so is to have us believe that true authority is in the size of a wallet, the tone of voice, the class of car, profit levels or the GNP of a country. For most of us authority and power equates to money, social status, success in bed or on the sports field. We do not see authority in its spiritual context.
